If they put in a oil windfall tax your gas price will increase even more. In fact the oil companies as a percentage of their revenue made less profits % wise than Wal Mart last year. Say they impose a 30% windfall tax which some of them are proposing, the oil companies will raise prices to compensate. This in turn will of course raise the price of everything.
I think we are headed for some rough roads in the future.
