Dave Ramsey was a land magnate about 20 years ago. He was worth millions but almost all of it was debt. Times got tough he had all the banks call the loans on his properties, he lost everything.

He then sat down and with the help of his wife decided their had to be a better way. So he started working on that. He wrote some books, got a radio program and a TV slot most recently. He is indeed worth millions probably today again, but he has made his current fortune with no debt.

DR says that people shouldn't use credit cards, but when he first started his site he was making money off of people using their credit cards.
