While I am not denying that there are 'similar' places in other cities, this does not mean all places are as bad or anywhere near. Detroit has been hit bad. What do you think will happen if / when the big three go under? The city will be abandoned. Last time I was in Detroit I felt like I was in the streets of Baghdad. Have not returned since.

I don't know where you or others have been to overseas but I can tell you one thing that areas let alone cities like Detroit are not common at all. If you can find me such cities in the UK, Canada, Europe, Australia or Japan feel free to tell me where.

I cannot explain or even know where to begin to figure out what led us to this. By no means should anyone think it is the same everywhere. As Americans we have abandoned and literally trashed our country. Could we not have mandated rules that if a company goes under whoever buys the buildings has to maintain them and the surrounding property. Or that they should be torn down rather than left to rot away.

Of course, I don't blame the unions for this. This is 100% the fault of our leaders and ultimately we the people who voted them in. Was it not the Detroit Mayor who was just charged for corruption charges. This is why Canadians and others now mock us rather than look up to us. Anyone ever been to Vancouver or Sydney? If not, take a trip there and then come back and tell me what you think of our cities or how it is the same everywhere.
