BUT, brother; is it Govmints business to make corrections in the economy of what used to be called a "free market economy?"

No it is not. It is government's responisibility to try to kick start an economy that's in a recession, but not to take it over. A stimulus IMHO is what the government is supposed to do - but being the #1 stakeholder in a private company is absolutely not.
