    Messed Up Ss#

Recently we had a poster whose SS# was wrong on his credit cards.....when he went to file, it created a problem of "possible fraud" for him.......

Now he is trying to find a lawyer to handle his case and get the situtation under control and corrected. Hopefully he can do this. When he discovered the error he corrected employee records, insurance, etc, but failed to correct it on his credit cards.

By not correcting it on the credit cards, the credit bureau would have all his information under a "bogus name/ss#"...... his correct credit bureau account was not getting notified of good payments, payoff, etc....... This could really be hard on your credit report when pulled. No records there!!!

If he had not corrected his SS# on legal records, he could have had a serious problem in the future, drawing SS, getting benefits of any kind, his spouse or children drawing after he's gone, etc.

Your social security number follows you all your life, with everything you do..... BE VERY CAREFULL THAT YOU GIVE THE RIGHT ONE..... lots of things rely on the correct number.......

Okay, have any of the rest of you had trouble with your Social Security Number on documents???

If so, tell us about it.......

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

I lost my SS# card a few years back, actually, it was the card with my married name. It was stolen with my wallet, god knows whatever became of it...this was like 2003...anyone trying to get any credit with it got rid of it a long time ago!

I now use my old card with my unmarried name but same #...I don't ever recall having wrong numbers come up but my xhusband's information came up all over my credit report when I looked at it...that's ok...brings my credit back up.
