PIP in Florida dropping off our bills?

I just was notified that my car insurance which is currently $100/mo. will be dropping to $60 when PIP is no longer required. Now I'll have to see what GEICO offers in response to that change.

Anyone in FL know what the real deal is going to be with this phase out of PIP?

A coworker just renewed and his went WAAAAAAY down. waiting....

question, with the expiration of "no fault" and the no PIP offered what about basic work loss and beneficial coverages, rather pay through the nose than take a chance.

Thank you for that link. I live in FL and I'm thinking about switching from Allstate to GEICO (if they will have me). Allstate has dropped me from homeowners and I don't want to have anything more to do with them.

Many insurance companies have dropped homeowners insurance from a lot of clients, for no reason. So here I'm sitting with my insurance set to expire Oct. 31, and have to start looking.

you are so welcome glad it helped.i'm not a homeowner,i think it's very wrong how allstate and some others just drop people for hurricanes or other things that is not the owners fault. i live in pensacola it was so hard on people during hurricane ivan here. by the way hope everything go will with you in future. james

Wasnt that nice of them, right smack in hurricain season. What turds.
WOW, you FLA folk are lucky. NJ has the HIGHEST car insurance in the US. Basic, no fault, high deductable, liability costs $900 per year w/ tickets or accidents.
For full coverage we pay nearly $1,500 per car. My nephew has two minor tickets and pays $3,800. I know a guy with a DWI who just got his DL back. $6,000, for a sedan......but he desrves it, that idiot. (A DWI holder is one thing I have no respect or time for. What a careless, self centered choice.)

By State yes NJ, by County Miami Dade has the highest rates in the US, Hialeah the highest inside dade.
Right now with 100,000/300,000 coverage, a $250 deductable on both cars. No tickets on my insurance, one claim ever ($294.00 up until a month ago) I am paying GEICO $275.00 per month, $1650.00 both vehicles (you cannot get a one year policy here). If my oldest was not "away at College" out of state it would be around 6000-7000.00. With AIG it was $9208.00 during his ticketless first year of driving. And NO UNINSURED MOTORIST, with that my rate goes to over $4000.00 per year.

We'll see what happens with the loss of PIP and a host of other benefits, though I don't need PIP I like the other stuff. I am waiting to see if mine or my wife's disability Insurance will cover car wrecks now.

I like being overinsured, if you can be...

Do I need to keep the PIP? What if someone hits me & I don't have it...and/or I hit someone & neither of us has it?

Even though pip will probably be gone they do have an umbrella policy that you can take out that is quite reasonable. I did talk to a Geico agent about this and I thought it sounded pretty good.
