Crap, I grew up about 20 miles from there, I've *been* there.

There was actually a school shooting at MY high school in about 1990, a few years after I graduated. I had been classmates with that shooter's older sister, and had actually met him a few times when he was about 12 or 13. In that one, a teacher was killed trying to save kids, and I think a student was killed as well. I'm not sure, as I was in the military overseas when it happened, and for several years after. By the time I got back there, no one wanted to discuss it anymore. You never hear about that one on the news when they talk about school shootings, probably because it was one of the first.

Both my hometown, and Oroville are very small towns, Oroville is a community that is so small it is known around the area as the place with the dam and the fish hatchery. I found an arrowhead near the dam about 30 years ago, and still have it. All the schools within 100 miles go on field trips to see the salmon run and learn about how they grow.

Gotta go call Mom, she still lives there. Thanks for the heads up.

20 miles from Oroville? Marysville/Yuba City or Chico way. By the way Oroville now has 2 casinos.

Wow, two casinos, I guess I've been gone awhile. Indian casinos? Marysville/Yuba City way, actually, Olivehurst.

Yes, two Indian casinos. Don't know exact addresses, I just know how to get to them.
I live in Sacramento. Go up there once a month - right up Highway 70 past Olivehurst, through Marysville.
The shooting yesterday was at Las Plumas High on Wyandotte Rd.

Crazy, my high school used to play Las Plumas in football. I haven't lived in Olivehurst since 1992, but lived in Sacramento (foothill farms area) from 1997-2004, before I moved here to Kansas. I used to drive 70 (or 65) to mom's house every week. Another oddity, the county above the one I live in now here in Kansas is Wyandotte County.

            Small world.

On the Oroville school shooting, how bad was it, everyone going to be ok, or no?

No one was hurt or killed. 17 year old kid boy was arrested. By the way just off of Hwy. 65 in Lincoln/Roseville there is now a big casino too, called Thunder Valley. Hwy. 65 merger with I-80 is a real slooow go, all the way to Citrus Heights.

School is changing too much. There's a bill up in Michigan (my state) that would allow teachers to carry guns to school! I can't imagine going to school with a gun on my hip! I guess when little Johnny eats his boogers one too many times...
Seriously, I hate the violence. It's everywhere now.
