No actually most of the people planning to vote for Obama are doing so because they think they are going to get free health care.

At least convey some truth/fact when you post. lol Like McCain's $5k Health Insurance credit is going to mean something. Do you know how many people are uninsured, or underinsured in this country? A lot of them are members of this BK Forum! If you want to see our membership base grow, then vote for McCain!!

Welp it only took Bush four years to screw up this country/world beyond recognition with his capitalist practices. Making matters worse Bush ruined lives from the lowest to the highest end of the financial spectrum. Obama is the best thing this country has going for itself right now. But if you want to continue seeing what little money, resources, jobs, schools, etc being taken away from you---then by all means VOTE for McCain...and pray that he can deliver 1% of the ill-fated promises he's making.

I really doubt this will be the case with Obama because the people who will vote for him realize that his "promises" are simply his vision for this country, and the man has repeatedly stated that it will take more than four years to institute and see changes. Voting for McCain is the worst thing for this country and will only result in continued Bushisms.

Or could it just be that regardless of how the question is phrased that people still will vote for their preference?
It's estimated that the two leading third party candidates (Barr and Nader) will each receive less than 1% of the popular vote, and of course no electoral votes.

Thank-you for throwing your vote to some right-wing libertarian nutcase. That's one less vote for McCain. I encourage all you that would never vote for Obama to please vote for a third party candidate! That would be wonderful.

I would have voted for obama and I also chose the democrats will win in this poll. However, I voted for Barr/Root when I realized what a fat mouth lying sack of dog dodo obama and his wife are and Barr is the only one who admits government R&D has taken too much power from the people. duh!

McCain is a no brainer since we do not want 4 more years of 90% GWB failure and a 100 year war that accomplishes nothing.

These other groups will filter into the system because they can, and, we are fed up with the extremist two party system lying, cheating, stealing from the people and creating laws that harm the people while making government a monster instead of a friend.

Not all of us are still brainwashed into believing that only dems or reps can win or rule and will continue to look for alternatives to the huge mess the reps & dems have created.

The poll itself reveals how brainwashed & bias the system is. If it were fair, it would have listed everyone who could win instead *other*.

It does not mean people are deluded who took the poll by choosing *other*, it just means they have a hope from the current delusion of a singular 2-party system that the masses are under.

There are scenarios where a third party could win the presidency this time. But it really depends on Texas election and Congress.

Although the Texas court struck down Barr's initial protest he could introduce a new case after the election is concluded. By Texas law since the Democrats and Republicans chose their candidates after the Texas deadline for being on the ballot, neither Obama nor McCain should have been on the ballot in the State of Texas, which means neither should get the electoral votes.

If McCain wins the general election with Texas and cannot win without it which is very likely, then whoever comes in third in Texas could have grounds to challenge the Texas election. If the courts finds in favor of this person (most likely would be Barr), then Texas electoral votes would go to Robert Barr. This would create a situation where no one has enough electoral votes to win the election, then it goes to congress.

The top three electoral getters, who would be in this scenario Obama, McCain, and Barr, would be voted upon by the House of Representatives. Now the last time this happened the person who won the popular vote was not chosen as President. They could decide that neither of the major political parties wants blame for what's going to be a very bad 4 years ahead and they could chose Barr, rather than Obama and McCain.

So though highly improbable it could happen.

Now this scenario is moot if Obama wins since he is highly unlikely to win Texas or need its electoral votes.

Will it be the end of the country if Obama wins, no. I think there are enough moderate democrats who would side with the moderate republicans to block the worst of the left wing agenda.

Will it be the end if its McCain no it will not be. It'll be a fight in Congress for him to do anything as well. Actually the country might be slightly better off if he were to win while the D had a large control of Congress. Some of the greatest Presidents of recent history where those who were of a different party than the Congress. Some of the worst were of the same party as the Congress.

One thing is certain if Congress cannot control its spending, cannot find a way to address the federal deficit, the federal debt, and unfunded entitlements then in 4 years we'll be worse than we are today.
