    IRS levies anyone?

I am currently on a payment plan for my 2004 taxes. Just got a letter that they want to place levies for 2004/05 due to my failure to pay up the 2005 amount owed, this will totally bring me over $10K and I had to take $ out back in 2005 to pay off the IRS...what a mess!

Anyone used JK Harris to settle for pennies on the dollar and or some other service?

    This is just getting ridiculous!

It is called an Offer In Compromise. Unless you are suffering a serious economic hardship it is difficult to get those <pennies on the dollars> agreements that are advertised on late night television. http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/...104593,00.html

I hear ya! and one of the CPA's that's renting from one of my people where I work said they probably charge a grand just to get started on my mess.

The only thing I have left after the bankruptcy is my SUV and my job.

I did call the IRS this morning. They gave me a six week extension at the moment and are sending me the Offer in Compromise paperwork.

I'm going to attempt to remain calm!

I"m going to go for that "tax is correct but doubtfull it could be paid off due to hardship"....I will explain that my xboyfriend was a drug addict and I went into debt trying to keep a roof over our heads, he stole money for drugs and he will testify to that fact....

        Afternoon update:

Word on JKH is they're just like the credit card companies that do debt consolidation...they're paper filers.

Better to just deal with IRS and work on the O & C.

Filling out an Offer Of Compromise isn't for the cognitively weak..Maybe a google search will give you some ideas where to start....good luck.

              Situational update!

Well....was supposed to get my tax refund today, direct deposit...well, guess what?

Because I'm now in a payment plan regarding my 2004 debt, and my 2005 debt threw me into default......they

applied my $2,500 refund to my total debt....ok...I can deal with that as I did owe...now....I'm thinking, that tax "rebate" which is really an advance of 2008 refund, well, I'm guessing they will apply mine to my income tax debt? Which again, would help and then with my 2008 tax refund next year, I'd be almost paid off.

They did increase my monthly payment $25 in respect to the additional tax year debt, but I can deal with that.....

ok, at least I'm out of default
