I used taxslayer for our taxes with direct deposit. paid the fee with my debit card. so i wonder if we will be getting direct deposit or paper check. i tried that where's my simulus payment with my ss but it couldn't provide any info. i'll just wait and see what happens.
and my deposit was on 5/2. I use a small regional bank: wasn't there at 2 am when I went to bed, but showed up by 9 am when I checked Friday am. I used IRS "free file" online via Intuit (TurboTax) and had no tax liability, so received $300. And will use it to help pay property taxes coming up.
Well, my ssn ends in 12 and I still haven't received anything. So much for their timetable.
My hubby's SS ends in "09" (filed joint and refund auto deposited) and we just received it yesterday via auto deposit in checking account - deposited early a.m. on 5/2.
I used TurboTax but paid for my filing with my debit card. Got my tax refund direct deposited.
But the IRS stimulus check site does not work for my social #. I get an error message saying they can't process my request.
I figure there are so many of these things going out, there are bound to be a certain amount of problems.
Then, the fact that we're dealing with the IRS - we have to consider ourselves lucky if we get it at all.
Luckily we don't "need" the money right now. I just don''t want to have to be calling the IRS 2 months from now, saying "I did not get my check!" Hopefully THAT won't happen.
Ok, I just got off the phone with the IRS and Turbotaxes website is correct. It appears that anyone who did their taxes using TurboTax, TaxAct, paid their fees out of the refund rather then using a debit or cc, or used HR Block RAL will be getting theirs mailed rather then direct deposited. Something about our refunds went thru a third party.
So if you used any of these methods for your refund, you might as well sit back and wait. According to the IRS website the date of mailings has been moved up by about a week, however the mailed checks cover fewer numbers per week. Ours will be mailed out on May 9th.
So here's a question I have, do you have to deposit the whole thing into your bank acct if it's a paper check? How will anyone know how much you received if it's a paper check. Now I am not talking about lying to the trustee. I just don't know exactly what we should do with that check. Should we cash it and keep receipts showing how it was spent? In a way, not having that much deposited into our checking acct is good isn't it? I was worried about that.
One bad thing is this will delay filing even longer. I was hoping we could file by beginning of June, now I just don't know. Depends on when we can get that check spent. According to their site we will receive almost $1800. Scheduling repairs on the car and getting repairs done on our home will be a matter of when we can get this stuff done. I am just glad we didn't already schedule this stuff since who knows when that check will get here.
I have been trying to get an answer from my attorney, but no luck so far. Does anyone know if a chapter 13 filer in GA can keep their stimulus money? I can't find anything and haven't heard for sure. Also, would it be awful to take some and have a little anniversary trip for my hubby & I? We havent been able to do that in so long it would be great!!
I used HR Block tax software and Direct Deposit ... I'm just thankful I got mine....and hope everyhone gets theirs soon. It's not much cash but it helps.
What if I paid to file my 2007 taxes with my refund money using Santa Barbara Bank & Trust?
Even if you have received or will receive your tax refund by direct deposit to your bank account, the IRS will not do the same for your tax rebate in this instance. It will mail your rebate instead.
In its preparations for issuing rebates, the IRS decided that taxpayers who entered into financial transactions with third parties, such as Santa Barbara Bank & Trust (the taxpayer and TurboTax being the first two parties), would receive their rebates by mail.
This applies only to TurboTax customers who used the "refund transfer" or RT service when filing their 2007 tax returns. The service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, under an agreement with the bank. This allows customers to pay using their refunds, rather than credit cards.
This IRS decision also applies to taxpayers who used "refund anticipation loans" or RALs (loans made to tax filers against their expected refunds) on their 2007 returns. TurboTax does not offer RALs.
I found this on the turbo tax site. I used taxact, but had my fees for using them taken from my return, which mean we are screwed. We won't be getting it direct deposited, it will be mailed! This totally sucks! Why didn't they clarify this on the IRS site? I mean alot of people I know filed their taxes using this programs and had their fees taken out of the refund. Doesn't say this anywhere on their stupid site!
All it does say is if you had your refund direct deposit and what your ss number is and that's it! Just our luck! I did say we should expect our checks on May 9th rather then the original May 16th. This delays our filing even longer!
I talked to the irs today. they told me there is a catch for this direct deposit of your check. if you filed your taxes with a third party (taxslayer, turbo tax, etc....) you will get a paper check not direct deposit. i knew there would be a catch there always is.
As the above post What money mentioned I guess you cant always listen to the IRS. As of this afternoon, I have heard more people that I know received their checks when they used turbo tax.
As the link I showed above it was only mentioned people who used the Santa Barbara Bank & Trust. So whoever used their CC or probably their debit card there fine and will be receiving it shortly

You can't believe everything the IRS tells you. This only applies to those that used Santa Barbara Bank & Trust to pay for your Turbotax fees. If you used the TurboTax free filing online program (for low income filers), or you paid for TT and filing fees without using the RT service, you should still get direct deposit of the stimulus, based on the turbotax link posted above.

Not that anyone realized this when filing online; as usual IRS rules keep expanding until they are incomprehensible.
