The Stimulus Payment will be a credit on the 2008 tax return. Those taxpayers that did not qualify to receive the 2008 rebate check may be eligible for the rebate credit when they file their 2008 tax return.
And what does this prove? Says NOTHING about you having to claim a rebate you received this year on next year's return. Your quote is pretty irrelevant to whatever point you were trying to make earlier.

What happens to my 2008 tax return if I do receive a 2008 rebate check?
If you received all of the allowed rebate in your 2008 rebate check, there will be no affect to your 2008 tax return.
Gee, exactly what we've all been trying to tell you. And you just confirmed it, this year's rebate check has no effect on next year's return. Thanks for finally figuring this out.

you still filed a tax return & you had an income...so you are wrong.
I must really be bored to reply to you. My income was NOT taxable. To get my address and still know I was alive the IRS asked Seniors that had not filed a return in years because their SS was not taxable, to file a simple return marked "Stimulus Payment" with the SS amount filled in to determine it was over $3000/yr. I said I had not filed a return or paid taxes, because I had no tax liability. I never said I had no income, just no taxable income.

I'm am so pleased to be getting in the last word here. Now don't come back again, remember you promised.

So anyway...Mom you should be happy you got something, there are many that didn't get that.

Whatever the stimulus is we all will know next year, so why worry about it now.

Oh trust me I am happy the kids got it and not him. No one needs to tell me that. I just think it was a way to easy way for a child support payment to be made.
I cannot even file a willful violation now because there has been a payment made regardless of how it is made. I am not alone in this either. To many 'deadbeats' got out of legal trouble with this measely amount of money. Good news is that it only buys them about 90 days.

Bandit: You right he worked to be entitled to a stimulus. Burns me even worse. It means he switched jobs right before Child Support Enforcement was able to start garnishing his wages. According to his ex brother in law. He worked 9 jobs last year to avoid child support.
