Some words by the late George Carlin

FYI-I deleted the profanity. You can search google video and youtube for the video of this, but I will not post direct links so as not to violate the TOS.

    The Real Owners Of America
    The Owners of the Country
    Life is Worth Losing

"The real owners are the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians, they're an irrelevancy. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They've long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the statehouses, the city halls. They've got the judges in their back pockets. And they own all the big media companies, so that they control just about all of the news and information you hear. They've got you by the *****. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want; they want more for themselves and less for everybody else."

"But I'll tell you what they don't want. They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that. That doesn't help them. That's against their interests. They don't want people who are smart enough to sit around the kitchen table and figure out how badly they're getting ****** by a system that threw them overboard 30 ******* years ago.

"You know what they want? Obedient workers people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork but just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly ******* jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And, now, they're coming for your Social Security. They want your ******* retirement money. They want it back, so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They'll get it. They'll get it all, sooner or later, because they own this ******* place. It's a big club, and you ain't in it. You and I are not in the big club."

    "This country is finished."

    From Reuters concerning his death:
"His comedic sensibility revolved around a central theme: humanity is a cursed, doomed species.

"I don't have any beliefs or allegiances. I don't believe in this country, I don't believe in religion, or a god, and I don't believe in all these man-made institutional ideas," he told Reuters in a 2001 interview.

Carlin told Playboy in 2005 that he looked forward to an afterlife where he could watch the decline of civilization on a "heavenly CNN."

"The world is a big theatre-in-the round as far as I'm concerned, and I'd love to watch it spin itself into oblivion," he said. "Tune in and watch the human adventure."

And from Steve Watson about Carlin's Death:

Comedian Who Questioned "Received Reality" Of 9/11 Dies
Counterculture great George Carlin passes away

"Always outspoken and never a man to hide his opinions, Carlin most recently hit the headlines after speaking of his doubts about the official 9/11 story during an appearance at Borders bookstore in New York City last October, just a few blocks away from ground zero.

Asked what he thought of the 9/11 truth movement and how Bill Maher's show was interrupted by truthers at the time, Carlin responded, "I always question the received reality."

"The consensus reality is often intentionally misleading," he added.

Asked if he would support a new investigation into 9/11, Carlin was skeptical, stating, "They don't investigate themselves in this country - it would be a whitewash, it would be like the Kennedy thing, it would be like everything."

"The people who are in charge do what they want and they will always do what they want, power does what it wants to and I wouldn't trust an investigation," Carlin concluded.

During a recent appearance on Keith Olbermann's MSNBC show, Carlin said that America was "finished" because "no one questions things anymore" and that the population had been bought off by distractions, toys and gizmos."

One of my favorites from him is: "Its called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it". He will missed. He used humor to speak the truth about govt, religion and other beliefs people hold blindly. The iconoclast of our generation.

Yep "they" finally shut him up. Guess Carlin was my hero, a lot more relevant than say, Jesus, George Bush's hero.

OMG- we could be twins. I say question & investigate everything & forever & throw out the gizmos & toys.

I never really knew this guy but if I remember he is theone who did a silent gig sometimes, where he came out & just stood there, saying nothing, breathed like he was going to talk but never spoke, changed his posture holding the microphone but did not speak

& that was it-while the crowd laughed like crazy.

He reminds me a little bit of Gallahger but with no props.

I never remember George Carlin being lost for words. You may be thinking of someone else.

Just enter this into Google, and one of his classic 10 minute routines will pop right up: YouTube George Carlin Religion is

After looking at some of the videos I do remember his silent gig but do not recall where it was...Carson? SNL? dont remember & dont much care though I found that particular one to be funny.

I did not like this guy that much as I found him to be rude & obnoxious of others so I did not follow his routine as a groupy. Though I agree with his same basic thought pattern & he makes people think, I feel he would have reached more people if he had shown some respect toward the others rather than knocking everyone routinely as if he was above them. While maintaining an anti religious & anti Government nature he seemed to create his own religion & politics of absolutes while knocking everyone elses.

While leaving as a comic legend, (pbuh) (rip), and winning awards, the approach & extremes were not my cup of tea. I had no problem turning the channel if he was on so I will not miss him & do not really care what others who liked him think about that, as I am sure Carlin did not care either about what others think.

              Thanks for posting this.
I felt very sad when I heard the news. I first saw George on tv when he was the Hippy Dippy Weatherman. That bit doesn't hold up that well now but at the time, it was hilarious.

Saw him live twice and laughed so hard my face hurt.

Listened to all his cd's and watched most of his HBO specials over the years.

You can see, he was a hero of mine. He spoke the truth and didn't care who it offended. He took on the a-hole's and jerks and hypocrites and let them have it with both barrels - all while making us laugh!

He was great! I had the pleasure of running into him one time where I worked at a small tv studio and I usually never do this, but I went up to him and said, "I really enjoy your work!" and shook his hand and he seemed embarrassed even though I'm sure he got that all the time, and was very down to earth and thanked me. I didn't get a chance to hang around and talk to him but I got the feeling that he'd have been a great guy to have a beer or two with! I am honored to have shook his hand, and I will miss him being around.

There's tons of great stuff of his on youtube, just type in George Carlin. I spent a good part of Monday doing just that.

He's wherever us atheists/agnostics/humanists go when we die. If there's any company there, at all, we'll be in good company with George Carlin and Kurt Vonnegut. If not, then so be it. The main thing is, George's humor will live on, here. He was one of the best satirists of the 20th Century.
