Those words are still true to this day. Many Americans feel their Constitution protects them from tyranny of goverment. But slowly over the decades there has been executive orders that have quietly been established by Presidents that could be used to eradicate peoples freedoms permantely in a "national security crisis". People laugh when I tell them that a govt could displace and relocate citizens at will if they see fit. That this country could be governed by a dictatorship by the executive branch is no folly. Read these executive orders and contemplate:

Executive Order 10995 provides for the takeover of the communications media.

Executive Order 10997 provides for the takeover of all electric, power, petroleum, gas, fuels, and minerals.

Executive Order 10988 provides for the takeover of food resources and farms.

Executive Order 10999 provides for the takeover of all modes of transportation, control of highways, seaports, etc.

Executive Order 11000 provides for mobilization of all civilians into work brigades under the Government supervision.

Executive Order 11001 provides for Government takeover of all health, education and welfare functions.

Executive Order 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.

Executive Order 11003 provides for the Government to take over airports and aircraft.

Executive Order 11004 provides for the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.

Executive Order 11005 provides for the Government to take over railroads, inland waterways, and public storage facilities.

All these above Executive Orders were combined into one huge Executive Order which allows all these power seizures to take place if the President declares a national emergency.

President Carter combined all these seizure authorizations into one Executive Order, #11490, and signed into "law" on July 20, 1979.

JRScott, I have been telling hubby for years that these presidents of the past, are rolling in their graves by the way that the government is run today. Its a shame really.

Woodrow Wilson had the unfortunate legacy of signing into law the Federal Reserve Act. Yes, I do believe most of the Presidents of the 20th century were bad. The worst President, I believe, was Abraham Lincoln. He abused his political power, was responsible for the war crimes against the South, and was never really in favor of freeing slaves until it was politically necessary to do so. Alot of misconceptions surround him.

Yes your right the South was looking for a way to free slaves that would make them independent and self sufficient rather than the way the North did it- just give them freedom without a way for them to help themselves. The North never kept their promise of "40 acres and a mule" to the slaves. Its all bs. The North were just as involved in the slave trade as the South. Lincoln was trying to persuade black leaders to encourage them and their people to migrate back to Liberia or part of the Carribean after the Civil War. Never has a president abused his executive powers and perverted the spirit and intent of the Constituion. And yet there is a big memorial of him in Washington. He is the champion of big centralized govt.

I have been reluctant to post on this because I was honestly not fully aware of all those things. I liked JImmy Carter in his own stupid way & just for being a peaceful man who I still feel had a heartbeat for America, but after seeing him do that, I just lost my respect for him too. It is as if these people need something to do when in office to make it look like they are doing something while all along taking our freedoms & setting us up like the 3rd world. They have done everything, EVERYTHING to over ride the constitution & the (we) stupid public keep voting these republican & democrat freaks into office as if they are helping us.

Now we just need to take Executive Order, #11490, and throw it in the garbage & put the constituion back on the table.

I have talked with a lot of arabs over the years & never fully understood what they were trying to say about Americans not having the freedom we think we do...as (like a moron) I tried explaining the constitution to them.

My question is, who is the Darth Vader behind these politicians?

I will wager to bet that at least half of americans, voters & non voters do not have clue about any of this & Sbush has hit upon every one of those orders at various times trying to use them as a dicKtator. His war stacked from the very beginning gives him access to all of that...
