No doubt this is an "interesting" discussion......

Just be careful in your posting not to "step on toes" regarding race, religion, politics, and ethic backgrounds.....

You have a "right" to agree or disagree with the posting and post your opinion, but do it in a nice, clean language and constructive way.

Hub, I fall on your side of the argument wholeheartedly... just lacking the time to say why. one further, no problem with the war in Iraq. Big problem with sending a standing Army and Police Force home and then trying to make new ones from nothing. You don't take out the whole beauraucracy, we certainly didn't do it in Germany or Japan, why here?

Hub, I think Min just wants to let us know that we have to be somewhat tolerant on the board, in other words don't just jump all Muslims which could happen. I am sure that some Muslims are going through BK right now and may peruse this board for advice. And they are probably working schmo's like us.

You definitely did not say anything offensive. The type of violent views against which the man was speaking was what you were addressing, along with the absolute refusal to assimilate to any degree. That is different than say South Florida where we jump on one another for race, etc... The truth is that most Latins here have well assimilated in one way or another, some to a lesser degree, yes, but they have assimilated business wise, homebuying American dreamwise, and rooting for the USA in the Olympics, War and other things. I have found very few of them who were not crying or angry on 9/11. So we tend to jump on each others origins a bit and get offensive at times, I think that is what Min was referring to.

I don't want fundamentalist Muslims, Jews, Hindu's, Christians, Unitarians, Quakers, well maybe Quakers 'cause the budget would be balanced, or any single group to take over or gather dangerously and attack anything or upset the apple cart in my Country. America, Australia, England at one point were founded on Christian Principle's by imperfect people. I prefer to keep the Christian Principle's without enforcing any dogma. Because of those principle's we have alot more freedom and prosperity than the 5000 year old "haven't achieved crap technolically since the bronze age" Countries we are having to fight in.

Thanks and I do try to keep my posts clean and unbiased. I truly have no biases but many opinions. A Muslim who respects me, I have no problem with, or any other person. What I do have a problem with is when anyone tells me I should live "their" way or no way. I am apposed to people saying we need to speak their language when they are in MY country, and stuff like that. I am a live and let live type of person with one caviet, "Don't Tread On Me". Google that phrase and you will know. GBWY 'Hub

Hub ----the original post was one I read a few weeks ago- forwarded from my DH's work (VA hospital) and boy, it went around like wildfire in a gov't facility. It is a good statement, even if it didn't come from John Howard..

On a lighter note: I want to see a cutely decorated Christmas tree in the halls of schools again. I know it will never happen but one can only wish.

We celebrate both Hanuakah and Christmas but this last "Holiday concert" at school was strickly songs about Kwanzaa(sp?). Beautiful music. But confusing to the 99% of students in the school who do celebrate Christmas.

Also.. my little brother lives in Germany. Was in the army and met a woman..etc. long story short he stayed. The first thing he HAD to do was learn German. Not just a little bit but he had to become fluent in order to get a job, once he was out of the army and living off base. Germans know English, but still REQUIRE that if you live there you know the language. They have no sympathy for those from other countries who call Germany home. You do as the Germans do..period.

                      Agree with this poster.

My Grandpa came over from Germany in 1919. He had to learn English to stay. He learned. He became a US citizen and was a protective member of society up until he died. I see nothing wrong with this. Just my opinion.

I do not believe it is *****ing or complaining to ask that religion be left out of the public school classroom. If you want religion in school go to a private religious affiliated school or Sunday school. I can certainly be respectful of others religions that are different from mine however, if I am required to be somewhere (like school) I should not be forced to listen to any one religion as this has nothing to do with the advancement of my education.

I agree. Hey hub, of all the antagonism I show towards religion, my kids attend a Christian school. I finally agreed with my ex to let them go and get out of public school and I split the cost with her. One of the best descisions I have made with them. But the school and the teachers dont know their Daddy's secret that religion is bs.

& they hate each other, bicker & fight with each other, slander each other & call each other names like tribal ignorance...being more concerned about bashing each other for power than the facts of their crookedness over the people they are supposed to serve....oh that is right I forgot they have become self serving politicians.

some example of leadership & quality? leaders do not exist in this country as of late because we are not given fair choices as the 2 party system politics in fear of their little system being divided by more than two votes.

& I am supposed to not give my opinon about the example they set for us to follow? It is asinine behavior.

McCrook & Oblabba could not make a stand at this point like the OP as they would lose the australian vote, lose the muslim vote, lose the english vote...having no genuine care for such problems. You will not know what they are really for until after they are elected.
