    Walking the talk

I just purchased tickets to see Dave Ramsey live and guess what?

When I went to pay for them, I could only use a debit card or bank draft.

The man doesn't take credit cards for his tickets.

Yes, he says that on his website when ordering books also(don't know if that is where you purchased your tix or not).
They have an EBAy store and accept paypal. On their information page it says that paypal forbids them refusing to accept CC, so they ask you to respect their wishes and please use debit instead of cc to pay, although they cannot stop you from using the cc if you so chose to do.

I still have been throwing the cc offers in the shredder, almost 1 year out.

Dave Ramsey does take credit cards.

DR disclaimer under his debit card policy:

          * The Lampo Group, Inc. and Dave Ramsey recognize that the Visa and MasterCard virtual monopoly on the debit card industries prohibits merchants from only taking debit cards. As such, it is impossible for us to ensure that every order has complied with our debit card policy. We trust that all of our customers hold EXCEEDINGLY high levels of INTEGRITY and maintain EXTRAORDINARILY high standards of TRUTH and HONESTY. Basically, anyone ordering from us who does not follow this policy is a shady and dishonest character. Don't put yourself in this group. You're better than that. Stick to our policy, NO CREDIT CARDS, and make us all happy.

Actually what Dave's site says is that if they could just accept Debit cards they would, but there is no way to just accept debit cards so they leave it up to the consumer to obey their wishes of no credit cards.

The disclaimer I posted is from his site.

So he shouldn't say he doesn't accept credit cards, when in fact he does. And there is actually a way to only accept debit cards. But I doubt his company has the means to do that.

ETA: And if he really didn't want to accept Credit Cards, he could take paypal or a 3rd party biller like Amazon.

What you quoted is exactly what I said in other words.

I don't know of any way you can take debit cards without taking credit cards especially today when most debit cards carry the visa and mastercard logos.

Also as someone else posted before you can't take paypal and disallow payment of credit cards through it, they don't allow that.

btw, I am jealous with a green capital J. Dave never comes anywhere near where I live.

It is amazing how DR can say something and people actually believe it.

If he was sincere in not taking CC's he could have figured it out. There are so many options he could have picked. And again you can take ONLY debit cards.

DR is about making money on those he says needs help because of their overspending.

                            *giggles*

It's refreshing to see someone in a financial/bk forum who isn't a Dave Ramsey fan

I've read a little of his system/plan/philosophy, though not enough to form a solid opinion. I *do* have a solid opinion on the belief that anyone can or should go to a straight cash system. To those people....good luck with that.

I don't foresee myself ever being able to pay for a house with cash, nor even a car. Though it's not completely impossible, there's so many things that are built upon having a decent credit rating (which is something that's earned, through being responsible with credit).

And yes, Cali, I agree with you 100%. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt for not being technically sauuve enough himself, he could have instructed those who work for him to do so.
