The US, the world's Olympic training grounds?

Anyone else notice that many of the athletes representing other countries went to U.S. Universities. I especially notice that trend in Track Field and other individual sports.

I noticed that too. So many of them, the announcers talk about them going to school in the US. I wondered if they are on scholarships, or if their family has the $$ to send them over here. Now I wonder if the countries themselves are footing the bill?

It has been this way for as long as I can remember. I know in track(my old sport), most come to the US on scholarships.
