    Hurricane Ike Stronger than Katrina?

    Hi All:

I have been following the advisories and below is the link to the latest one from Bloomberg.com. The chief Meteorologist from Weather Underground, Inc. has called Ike a 'freak' and is warning that in terms of storm surge, may end up being more powerful than Katrina.

I hope and pray that everyone will be safe.

I think it's going to be though. Take a look at the weather channel's forecast, it's brutal.

I wonder how southernbelle's doing in Louisiana, she got hit hard by Gustuv and I heard reports of heavy rain from Ike in southern LA.

I have family in both Houston and Galveston. I am praying that no one gets hurt.

And I had family in NOLA for Katrina.

Its rough no matter what. The coverage is showing the storm is quite tough. The storm surge is bad here.

This storm isn't just in the south any more.

There is massive flooding all the way into the midwest from this storm. I think this storm is doing more widespread flood damage than Katrina. There are only 6 buildings left in my neighborhood that are not under water.

What do I see? I see boats going up & down my street rescuing people from their homes, fire trucks, sand bags and black water that looks like the blob. The concrete park bench out back in the gardens stands about 2.5 feet and is completely submersed. That is scary to see stuff disappear under water like that. The huge dumpster next door is floating around sideways like the titanic. My neighbor says this is the worse in over 30 years. State of emergency? I would say so.

I expect the basement in this house to be under water by tomorrow morning, even if the rain stopped right now. It is about 20 feet from the house and rising fast with 3 subpumps pumping hundreds of thousands of gallons of water out of the basement as I speak... Every road around me is closed to traffic, except boats and fire trucks. Over 100 flights were canceled through O'hare yesterday.

As for stress level, about a 9. Not a 10 yet because I am a good swimmer. I hope I dont get sick from these flood waters with more medical bills. I went to file finally and I am going to call monday and have him wait longer. I am so sick of this.

I simply do not ever see a fresh start in my future.
