    Katrina

I think this looks as physically bad or worse than Andrew. The deal is that our homes are almost all CBS and Andrew destroyed them. This is stick and brick and doesnt respond well to the forces of nature. Terrible, awful. I can only imagine what these folks are feeling. I had cash, guns, charcoal. Some of the folks in the City were left with nothing and the suburbs and folks in Mississippi were also utterly destroyed. The death toll here will be massive. I have never bought the Andrew toll, knowing of at least 24 people who vanished or died, my friends brother has never been found and was with him that night. I saw bodies and new of four deaths in a related accident (our Superintendants whole family) two days later.

I think the toll here will break 1000 easily. I wonder what nightmares this Country is in for, there is an aire of expectancy given the level of hate towards us along with natural disasters that affect growing areas of the Country. it is not a Bush thing or anything so simple, so please no politics. There have to be spiritual forces at work to weaken us as a Nation, we are literally being pressed in all ways. The only thing that can equate is the Civil War, which was another example of forces higher than us mortals at work. this is more than a "convergance" of human factors, there is a human component but there is always a spiritual one as well. We like to break things down to Discovery Channel level and not admit that we are subject to Providence.

I just don't feel that our string of "bad luck" is over to put it simply.

    Morning Robivi3,

Yes, Katrina has impacted her havoc on our coast line. I feel so, so sorry for the people that were stranded, no money, no transportation out, now no food and water available to them... (many with small children)....

Getting help to them should be of most "importance" - food, water, medical supplies. So far the people in the "undestructable" Superdome have been lucky the roof has not caved in on them...

Our nation has been very lucky when it comes to "disasters"....we have been spared a lot of the years...

I also agree that there is something "spiritual" going on here..... Its a "brunt reminder" that our Nation is not undestructable! The wrath of God can make itself known to "us" also... at any given time!!!

I don't feel "polictics" has anything to do with it.....nor is it a "Bush" thing....

Maybe "global warming" has something to do with all the environmental changes.... We pump so much stuff into the air - changing our air quality!!

The lost lives, destroyed homes, misplaced families of disaster victims should affect us all. Emotionally, financially, physically, mentally, they are in shock right now. They all need our support and help as soon as possible.

Are we prepared to handle such disasters? No, not really....... in the back of our minds we say "won't happen to us - couldn't!! But it does....

Most of us cannot "help" these victims except with financial help......

Open your heart and your pocketbook and support the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and the other organizations that are in full swing trying to make a difference today in the South.....

Give up that "nite out on the town", or "dinner out", or that expensive cup of coffee for a day or two - and help another individual that has "lost it all".....

Remember these people in your "prayers" today....they sure need them. Help them deal with this tragedy in their lives.

The adults may be able to handle the confusion of it all - the children can't...

YOUR DONATION AND PRAYERS CAN HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES RIGHT NOW!!!

It could be me or you instead that is in their position.........

And Robivi3, I know you are a re-locate from Andrew..... so you can really relate to these people in many ways...

    My thoughts today,

    Minny

Dittos on the prayers and donations.

The only thing I would disagree on is "global warming." For the most part, I think it's a hoax. (I will try not to get political here). The truth is, hurricanes and natural disasters have been going on since the beginning of time. It's all a part of the the earth's "evolution." Everything is in constant flux. There were hurricanes in the 1890's and again in the 1920's. Nothing new. There have been ices ages and warming trends long before man ever walked the earth. I think we have egos that are way to big thinking that we can affect the earth so greatly.
