Okay, I'll admit I don't follow news as close as I should...but have we lost a refinery somewhere or something? We've gone from $1.99 to as high as $2.35, $2.40 in less than week. Just curious.

Was just reading the "local mullet wrapper" and NC has the 6th highest gas tax in the nation. The legislaturers are trying to call a "special" session but h the govenor doesn't want one. What an empty gesture this is (it is election year for them - imagine that).
But the biggest issue to me was the phrase "gas was just leveling off to pre-storm prices - yeah right!!! I don't think $2.00 + is correct, maybe $1.25.....

Sun I thought you were in Florida. Yes, NC is a known Socialist haven, they tax everything. My sister lived in Charlotte in 1970-77, she loved the city but complained about the high taxes on everything including her dog.

We have a "mullet wrapper" called the Miami Herald and also the Miami Mullets Football Team.

Know Charlotte, worst driving in NC. I also think that they tax our taxes too.
Taxes on gas are almost $.50 a gallon. I remember when gas was about $.70 a gallon, go figure.......

WE were under $2 for a little while. Now $2.29.

Well, we got hammered, got relieved, got used to it. I am saving, planning to get a Suburban around September, pretty much decided to get an 00', 01, 02' cash for now and then buy my new Duramax when the boys exit College. Gotta' get rid of the Corsica, to small for going to work.

                  Go figure.
THe only good news is that I filled up yesterday at $2.26.9 and it was 66 degrees here yesterday.
                  Overcast and cold today.

2.67 a gallon here for premium. As I will hopefully surrender the lease vehicle this week it's back to premium for us, ack!

With the rapid increase in average fuel, and home prices...I'm surprised the economy hasnt tanked! Low interest rates, and longer financing terms are only perpetuating the high real estate market.

It starting to level here in SoFla. By that I mean a little longer to sell and values not rising quite as much.

                          TAKE NOTICE,

Every bill you get in the mail now has a "fuel charge" or "energy charge" attached on them now.... it can run anywhere from $1.25 to $3.50 depending on the bill (whether it be electric, phone, or gas, even your car insurance bill)..... Those EXTRAS start adding up quickly....

I asked the insurance company what "fuel charge" had to do with the insurance on my house and car..... DUH..... all she could say was "sorry, don't know"......

Many of the gas and electric bills in this area (Ky) doubled or tripled in the month of December..... Many are going to be in a position where they can't pay it (especially the elderly).... and they will go cold because they can't....

Making a extra "buck" is one thing - PRICE GOUGING is another.....

I remember the fuel surcharges that went into effect back when fuel prices spiked in '99-'00

Geez, I guess the leaders of this country won't be happy until they put us all into BK. Hmmm, I thought when the numbers looked this, it was supposed to boost our economy, not ruin it.

I still dumped the Jetta Turbo Diesel idea. I'm to damned big, I'm getting a gas guzzling Suburban to go along with the GMC. I love my GM's to damned much! The Illuminati, Bilderbergers, CFR be damned, guess I'm just thier boy when it comes to consumption. They've got us so busy, we can't revolt. And no, I don't believe in tight International conspiracies, that many folks couldn't all agree at once, or keep a secret... I'm just ranting! Heck, this is America anyway, I can always work more OT or go out like the old days and work a second!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I'm sorry for the "D" word but sometimes like now, when i've just been working on the kids car, that's the only word that really fits!
