Oprah Show Today - Tent City Lisa Ling

Haven't watched Oprah in quite some time, but I do like the shows that feature Lisa Ling from the Discovery Channel. I am watching this episode about homelessness and how people got into that situation.

It was upsetting to see the woman with her 3 children roaming from shelter to shelter trying to get by. There are so many people out there like this and I think it can be so preventable. It just makes me think of the things I have read on this site and other sites about how people usually file bk too late and generally wait too long. My suggestion to everyone out there who "thinks" they might need to file, think about your children and your family, if you need to file bk in order to save your family, do it now. If someone does not know if they can afford the attorney fees, call a local bk attorney and they can give you the names of some attorneys who do pro-bono work.

It just makes me sad when I see how children are impacted by forclosures and job losses of their parents.

Another disturbing thing on forclosures and what happens to a home after the bank takes possession. Here is the video link on the Oprah site. Very sad!

I thought the same thing, they are just trashing all that stuff. On the show, the guy that owns that clean out business says he has received a lot of flack for it but he "says" he contacts the charity organizations and they don't want the stuff because they can't keep up with the influx of items coming in...which is bull$hit because all you would have to do is place a FREE add on craigslist and believe you me A LOT of people would show up for that stuff.

So now our landfills are filling up faster because of these ridiculous foreclosure companies like this? It is maddening.

I have a bunch of baby/toddler clothing and toys, etc and I have been trying to figure out where to give my stuff away to since I did not want to just drop my stuff off at good will. Well, I placed an ad on craigs and sure enough I received plenty of emails from moms who need my stuff.

It should be a crime what they are doing!
