On this, I disagree.

Career politicians, which is what we have in DC, did not get their start in DC. They start at the local level, running for something, or perhaps running for anything.

From local, they more up to state, and then to federal, and in the case of our most recent president, to that office. Next, he'll be running for head of the UN.

Term limits are good and I agree in principal with them, however they will not stop the problem. After their term is up, then they join up with a lobby or get appointed to a position, or something else, they just won't go away.

Until we figure out how to actually GET RID of them, they're just like a bad case of the clap that won't go away. Too bad that penicillin won't work on congress......

Removing the lure of perpetual employment suckling the taxpayer's teat would probably thin the herd of wannabes to those who can afford to take a 6 year hiatus from the real world.

Voting them out has not worked well. T Kennedy, an example. Perhaps the term limits would work for that particular job, and then they can move on IF they have done a good job, up the ladder. I'm less worried about 'Bammy going to the U.N. than not leaving office after two terms.

FDR had four terms. He was the reason for the two term limit on the Pres. Not sure if true, but I heard a rumor that PresBO was attempting to get that amendment changed. That may be true. However, in 250 million Americans, I cannot see 100 in Senate, about 300 in House, not gleaning some STATESMEN rather than Politicians. It would work.

Originally, Senators were never voted on. They are the STATES representatives and the Congress people are the People's representatives. The Senators were assigned and could be recalled by the State government. 'Hub
