    My Christmas Poem

I wrote this a few years back and it was published in Trailer Life Magazine. Thought I would share it with all of you. We are outta here for two weeks for our annual Christmas on the road vacation! Be safe, be well, and be happy. We be back on Jan 3rd or 4th! We are going in 3... 2... 1.. Bye!

Twas the day after Christmas and all through the house,
not a present was found that I bought for my spouse.
She must be out standing in some long long line,
returning what I thought was such a great find.
The toys that weren't broken still needed some glue,
Oh yeah I forgot about batteries too.

The stockings the hung by the chimney with care,
lay all over the house ripped, torn in despair.
The lights on the house were there to adore,
are now just a project I try to ignore.
Taking down lights when its freezing outside?
I'll do it this summer on the fourth of July.

The cards on the mantel will soon be replaced,
by the bills from the cards with the high interest rates
    .
With all of their barking, and all of their bites.
I am sure glad the in-laws are now out of site.
Oh sure we do love them and this time of year.
We really are into the Holiday cheer.

But there will soon come a time where we can just say,
"Lets load up our RV and just drive away".
We'll send them the gifts, and visit them soon,
but be in warm weather at least until June.

I am patiently waiting, and so is my wife,
when we are retired on the highway of life.
There's so many places to see and explore,
This beautiful country that's outside our door.

So wave when you see us, and we'll give you a smile,
or pull up a chair in our campsite a awhile.
From all of our doggies, me and my wife.
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a great life".
In a perfect world every dog has a home, and every home has a dog.
