I hope you're thinking this huge groundswell will vote for 3rd party candidates. If elected, Scott Brown will tow the republican line just the same as a newly elected Democrat.

We've already been down this road too many times. The American people were tired of the status quo when they kicked the Republicans to the curb. So now you think the answer is to kick the Democrats to the curb and put Republicans back in control. Do you not think both parties had an equal hand in whats happened to this great country?

God help us all!

When will this evil cycle end? When will people really wise up to the fact that all politicians are the same?

We have plenty of reasons to cry for this great country.

Scott Brown was swept into office by an electorate demanding change. That change is for less government interference, less taxation and strong national defense. All three of these are conservative principles that the hijacked by the progressives Democrat party used to support. The conservative platform is much more in tune with the current Republican party though too many of the republican officeholders are RINO's and must be dismissed.

Not all politicians are the same. The "evil cycle" is ending. By November, Obama will be fully neutered and his far-left socialist agenda cast aside.

The electorate voted Obama into office because he was black and the liberal mainstream media refused to examine his platform and history. The 2008 vote had nothing to do with ridding the country of republicans. In fact, had the republicans offered up a real conservative rather than RINO McCain the race would have been very close and may have gone the other way.

Service jobs pay less than half the wages of most of the manufacturing jobs we lost. It will not lift up the middle class. Keep in mind also that to buy services you have to have money, no manufacturing, no money, eventually no service jobs.....

Manufacturing incomes rose (with the help of greedy unions) beyond the value the employee could provide the process. These jobs became expendable and were moved to non-union shops outside the USA. Manufacturing positions were over-paid too often. Look at the American auto worker who was earning over $60.00 per hour tightening bolts with a wrench.

Most service sector jobs are in fields like medicine, finance and computing which pay well.

The cost of services is reflected in the supply/demand curve and self-adjusting. This economy will rebound if Washington gets the hell out of the way.

We dont give a darn about Haiti. Not in the least. This will all be forgotten in 3 distractions from today. The Illuminatti keep the masses under IMF control- where as if they could break free they could make their own country nice.

As to the US being the one- I await the rebuild of WTC towers as well as Katrina.

You are spot on. We need to stop blaming obama or bush and wake up to the fact that they are all selling us down the road. There is no hiding the fact that Clinton deregulated with a republcian congress behind him all the way to creat the latest mess, and Bush deregulated even more to get more people into their own homes.. or make money for wall street??? Both parties are to blame, and it will not change until we form a grass roots effort to start a new party that has "normal, average, hardworking people running for office. We need to keep in mind the right and left have the money and the media at their beck and call and they will take any measures to win. They will try to ruin any candiate that is run for office with rumors or what ever it takes to keep them from running or from winning. That is the sad truth I think, we have lost control, but will not have the guts it takes to get conrol back.

To save ourselves we have to stop sending people who desire only power to Congress and to the office of the President. Instead we must send reluctant leaders, and lovers of freedom.

What is really needed is for the states to call a Constitutional Convention. If 2/3rds of the states call for one then it can be held. In that process we need to look to pass Professor Barnett's Bill of Federalism: http://www.federalismamendment.com/

It would move a long ways to restoring the balance between state and federal power and dealing somewhat with corruption. I would add that in addition to his amendments it would be best to repeal the 17th Amendment as well and restore that US Senators are elected by their respective state legislatures.

Yes, I agree. I admit I am no expert on politics, but it appears to me now is the time for Americans to start working together to improve our nation. No time for ignorance. I totally agree with you JRScott. Replacing an auto manufacturing job with a job making lattes at Starbucks, or a job making copies at Kinkos, or a job as a cold-caller in a phone bank, is still a huge loss of buying power, security, and standard of living for the middle class. Those are the types of service jobs that have been created, and they are not adequate replacements for the lost manufacturing jobs.

Martha Coakley was considered a shoo-in to win the Massachusetts senate race next week. No one paid any attention to the race while the grassroots got behind an independent-thinking contender who as of today leads Martha by 4 points in the most recent poll.

The transition to a service based economy that occurred over the last 20 years means the service base will be used to pull up the middle class.

Our economy will come roaring back if Washington stops spending us into debt we can never repay and stops taxing ALL classes so much. Obama thinks his new tax on banks won't affect the consumer. He lives in a universe detached from reality. ALL taxes ultimately are bore by the consumer. Look at the silly cigarette taxes designed to punish the manufacturers. It's the smoking public who bares that tax and the highest rate of smoking per capita is among the lower class. Remember the luxury tax on fancy cars and boats? That tax nearly destroyed those markets. Typical government intervention.

I'm sure there were many who deemed the Revolutionary War a lost cause before it began. Many knew this country was done when the Civil War broke out. The Great Depression was supposed to have destroyed this country. The Cold War was the end of the world.

We are reliving the late '70's right now. We recovered after Carter, we'll recover after Obama.

The concept that we will survive disasters of our own making, because, "We are America" by Gawd, I gave up a few years ago. There is no real evidence that we, great as this nation is, have the power to stop or even delay the explosives we have thrown on the path in front of us. I hear a LOT of people say this: We have always overcome before, we will again. But no one, so far, has been able to provide anything to back up the statement. Blind faith, I guess, has borne us through before, maybe it will again.

I hope you are right and I am wrong. In my mind, we are building a disastrous road to hell and walking that direction ignorantly, if not gleefully.

My stepson asked me, yesterday, why are we in Haiti when we have our own problems? I had to explain to him, if not America, who?

Haiti will suffer greatly, more than they ever heard. However there is hope for their souls. I was glad to hear that they were calling upon the Lord in their time of adversity. I'm sure many of them have gone to meet their rest and they shall know riches that they never knew in life.

Our current crop of politicians are not up to the task. To beholden to special interests they are.

In fact it should be a law that a Senator must raise funds only from the state they will represent, and that members of the House must raise funds only from their districts. To many Senators and House Representatives are beholden to interests outside their electorate that they have a great disconnect with the people.

To fix our nation will mean each of us, even the poorest and the richest will have to make great sacrifices and politicians do not want to ask for the sacrifices that are necessary. President Kennedy once stated "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." It is something we all should think about in these times, because that thought and its implications can save America if we're willing.
