When we moved, I did the mail fwd thaing with the Post Office. Even changed address with all the creditors. But,......... I haven't given them our new phone number. When I set up the phone acct, I got an unlisted phone number.

Every time I've had to contact a CC about something, if they screen me with private info and ask for a phone number, I just give them the old number. Hummmmm,................ New address in a different state, but they don't catch that the phone number has not changed???

At this point, I'm hoping the creditors won't be able to call us. Fingers crossed. And if anyone comes to the door,.......... and they ain't the Postal Delivery Lady, I ain't answering the door.

I'm real interested to see if you can find him, BK.

pink_love_baby, i used that website you gave me and i found his previous roommate, yahooo! maybe i will find that they both moved together and he lives at the same place.

and we will be trying the forward address thing minny suggested, like we have been trying to do, but instead we will use business address. both minny and the post office kinda hinted at that as well. they sai dbulk mail, minny said business mail. whoo hooo! i hope he forwarded his mail adn i hope it comes back as that address we found with teh previous roommate hehe.

that would be nice to tie it all together!

BkFiler, the Post office is yanking your chain. When I skip traced, I hit one little button on my computer and it sent a letter to the postmaster requesting the info, whether it be forwarding address or the street address provided when a box was rented. I'd get it back a few weeks later with the info I needed. I'm all for the court clerk records, though - may be your best bet if you don't want to pay the $65.

were you registered with the state so had legal purpose (BS) to get info?

Sorry it took me so long to get back w/you, I started a new job and been kinda busy. (In "soft" collections, no less.)

The letter was pretty basic, just stated who I was and who I worked for, and that I requested that the street address be provided that was given when that box was rented. They would fill it out and send it back, so I then had a physical address to send the lawyer, or sheriff in some cases, to. The only major thing with PO boxes now is most won't rent them out until the verify you actually live at the address you give when you rent it now, thanks to the joys of a post 9-11 world.

yes very true. they have a postoffice form for people to fill out and show id ect.

this person doesnt have a po box. they only listed a appartment address. i was able to find he previous roommate doing searches. his roommate left to anotehr apt complex and i think the apt is now left empty. lights are always dark and no one is moving around inside.

im going to sit and watch his roommates apt for a few days. see if the guy moved with him.

in the meantime, ive sent online trackable signature required letters (which wont help for service since its not done through the court) but it might tell me if there is a forwarding address on file (but not the exact address-unless it gets returned with the new address on it lol), if he has ever got mail at that original address, etc. it may provide a few clues.

we are going to try to send business mail to that name and address with 'return service requested' on it. see if that works.
