I need new tires for the 4Runner SUV 2000

...I have been waiting till my case is closed & they tell me for sure that they're not taking the SUV but....I can see Lincoln's head above the tread & it's tropical storm/hurricane season...I can wait no more...hoping to make it to friday as my left front tire has a little bulge on the bottom?

But my mom gave me $300 towards new tires & I am wondering what type to get?

Was thinking of going to Sears? Tire Kingdom? Hoping not to get a flat while trying to get there...

Leaving at 2:30 for doctor appointment & hope I do not blow a tire...

While Hubby was laid off, his truck needed new tires. Old ones looked like bologna skins. Being laid off and not knowing when new employment would start, buying new tires was not something we wanted to do.

Hubby went to Wally World for an oil change and the Service Guy noted his tires were real bad. The Service guy told Hubby that their Wal-Mart had just gotten in a semi load of Goodyear Wrangler Radials All Season tires. A close out deal. $50/tire. With mounting and balancing, the whole deal would be less than $300 for 4 tires. We jumped on it.

Definitely call around. See what you can find. Good deals pop up in the most unlikely places.

Also, when you call around to the big tire stores, ask about "Blems". Sometimes they get blemished tires in. The white used in the lettering or the white wall isn't quite right. Minor stuff. Nothing that affects the tire safety, life, or the way it will wear. But they can't sell them for full price. Kinda like 2nds in clothing.

AMISLANDER. Goto www.tirerack.com. Its factory direct. Go through the tire selector, and sort the results by price. Lots of tire stores buy directly from this website. Shipping a set of tires is only around $20, plus you will not pay sales tax. Once they arrive on your doorstep, you cart them to the tire store and pay installation, about $20 each. I did a quick search for your vehicle, tires start at 37$ each for a cheap one, and 59$ for Yokohamas, which are outstanding tires. If you haven't bought tires for that truck yet, you will find its a very expensive size. Call around and I doubt you find any tire for it under 70-80$. I used to have a sports car that the tire stores quoted no less than 800$ for a set. I bought a high performance set from tirerack.com for $300, out the door, paid 60$ to install at a local store.

That's where a full service gas station would come in handy. Generally, they will mount and balance tires for you that you bring in.

Yes, I do know Yokohamas, used to have them on my '89 Mitsubishi Starion! They were tres expensive through the dealer...I think around 7/800 for 4...

I just didn't know what to do as if the trustee decides he wants the SUV, he's not getting it with 4 Yoko's on it, that's for sure...any other thoughts?

I asked for free samples of bc pills & got three plus a prescription for three...this is the dr. that delivered both of my sons so I didn't feel bad asking for free birth control!

You may want to call junk yards. If cars/suvs are wrecked the tires will often be fine. They won't be new but they will be cheaper and better than what you have.

... and looked up my tire size 235/75/15...they have about 97 tires....

Going to see if the mechanics on the island will put on tires if I order them...otherwise, I know that's going to be the tricky part but at least I have prices to compare?

like I said, have $300...and $200 check but gotta pay cell phone friday or it gets turned off....or new tires....mine are in the rotting stage...

We did some price comparisons with the site FOMO posted and Wal-Mart. There was one tire, I think, that was real close in price. For the hassle of trying to find someone to mount them for you, it woulda been worth paying Wal-Mart the extra. Everything else that both places had was significantly different in price. One tire was $25-$30 more/tire at Wal-Mart. For that kind of savings, it's worth finding someone to mount and balance for you.

JeepMom had a good idea. Also, back in MO where we used to live, there was a used tire dealer. It looked like a junk yard, but that's all they did was sell used tires. Not bologna skins either. Most in pretty decent shape. And CHEAP!! Plus they'd mount and balance them too, for a small fee. Maybe you can find a place like that.

Yes, loved the blems idea...we also have a tire dealer that has new/used....they were the ones that told me back in early April I had about 5K more miles on the tires....well...I've put about 2,500 on since then & they're like rotting & cracking...being that it's freakin' hot & humid & rainy...I want to get safe tires on...

since I have the the luck of Murphy...everytime I put new tires on a 4runner, I end up getting rid of the SUV...therefore...being that I'm about done with this one due to the weird way it starts when it wants to....I'm a bit hesitant to go all out on the tire thing...my brake light flashes on & off but brakes are fine & have fluid...and the check engine light's only been on for a year & a half due to the catalytic converter need...or so Toyota says...

So I just need tires that will get me to work & back & not put me out $$$ if I end up "throwing" it after I get my ch.7 closed...

But because they are very high quality, tire stores can sell them at a price that compares to other tires of similar quality, making this tire expensive at tire stores and one of their highest profit margin tires. I've been buying all my tires and my families tires from them for the past 5 years, and just for kicks I always tell the counter guy at the tire store that installs them how little I paid

Ok...I'm going to do a little more checking around town...

My auto mechanics said it would cost me around $100 to put the tires on if I have my own tires...have to check with the main lady to find out what the includes?
