    Question Without CC Cards

After BK if all of the CC's are closed, how do you do the things that only take credit. Like renting a car, buying airline tickets, making hotel reservations, etc. We usually go across country to visit my hubby's family every other year....but due to our financial situation it has been much longer this time. When we get this resolved, we want to save up for the trip, but will not have CC cards. Will debit cards do the trick?

    Any ideas?

Sure - debit cards will do - if you have the funds in the bank account to cover whatever you're paying with that debit card.
Renting cars with debit cards MIGHT become a problem though.

Debit cards work just fine. I only came across one situation where a car rental company didn't take my debit card, the solution was to go to a competitor. You will have to over come the challenges of budgeting and saving enough to go on a trip (assuming you're in a ch13). This year we couldn't travel due to the price of gas stretching our budget to it's limits. Also there are the tax returns; unless you have to surrender it as part of ch13. Debit cards work fine for us.

Taxes will not be a help. We pay every year. I am a self employed contractor and I always end up paying at the end of the year.

          debit cards.
or secured credit cards, with low limits, there should be some threads on these.
Much thanks for all the support and information I receive on this forum.

Secured credit cards. I wonder how easy they are to get for discharged bk..

You should have no trouble purchasing airline tickets using your debit card. As to renting a car, check with the car rental agency as to their requirements for using a debit card. They will allow a debit card but there are certain restrictions, each varying among the rental companies. I know Enterprise will not allow the car out of the state of rental if a debit card is utilized but that may have changed since last summer. I utilize Enterprise a lot and have seen their restrictions posted on the counter and online for utilizing debit cards. Also with a debit card they will put a hold on the vehicle for about $400. That would also apply to hotel rentals if a debit card is used to guarantee a hotel room.

Hate to tell you - but I am in the hotel business and we authorize the heck out of debit cards to cover any damages. The worst hotel guests are cash pay and/or debit card payers, they tend to steal stuff from the rooms or have parties and trash the rooms.
