I just made payment 31 of 36. What will happen when that 36th payment is made in July? My attorney says that according to PACER, we are scheduled to complete about September 2009. Do we continue to make payments until we hear otherwise, or do we stop at payment 36?

Continue to make payments until you are notified to stop.
But you might be able to speed this along. Sign up for an account on 13datacenter.com. If your trustee participates in this, you will be able to see each month that your payments are received and how they were disbursed. When I got to that last payment, and saw actually that they left some sitting in my account( I had never ever had more than 2 cents left over in a month, and they left almost the entire payment sitting) I called my lawyer's office to see why. They told me I was finishing up and they would contact the trustee to see about getting the deductions stopped from my paycheck. Within a week the order showed up on pacer. I printed it off and faxed it to payroll just in time to stop the next deduction. It took us only 2 months after that last payment for our bk to be closed, but lots of others on here have taken longer, just depends.
Good luck and congrats for sticking with it. You will feel such a relief when you are closed!!!Chapter 13 filed -8/12/04

Never stop making payments until your trustee tells you to stop. Any overpayments will be given back to you after your trustee audits your case.
You can't go by the amount showing as still owed on your case accounting. Ask your lawyer to contact your trustee about 2 months out and see when it looks like your plan will be paid off and no further payments will be necessary.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

When you make your final payment to your Trustee, notify your attorney that you have done so and ask if you should continue making payments. You should within six weeks, give or take, after that last payment receive a letter from the Trustee indicating he/she has received your final payment and what will occur as to the closing out of your Plan. After all remaining funds are sent to the creditors, the trustee will do an audit which will indicate if you are owed any funds. You should receive your discharge about two months or so after that letter from the Trustee. That is how it went down for us._________________________________________
