Does mortgage company have to give tax papers?

At the end of the year is our mortgage company by law required to provide us with our tax information to file our tax returns? They like to play games and not give us statements so I was wondering if they can do the same with the others?

Yes, they are required to give you a IRS Form 1098 which shows the interest you paid as well as any property taxes that they paid on your behalf. I believe that the deadline is January 31st of the year in which the tax becomes due. So, for the 2010 tax year, the deadline would be 1/31/2011.
