Mortgage down payment

This may be dumb question but

I have been discharged from chap 7 for 3 years now.
Is it safe to keep alot of money I'm getting as a gift for a down payment in my savings?
The savings acct is with a bank that I had credit cards with ?
I was told once bk was discharge I can keep money any where but I wanna be sure that this bank can't take it

The bank cannot legally take your savings to pay off discharged credit card debt.

Allybank, ING and a few others have the best interest rates around--not great but the best. Why not open a savings account and earn a little interest?
