    Credit report after 10 years

Hi, has anyone tried applying for a mortgage 10 years post-bk? I just read a comment on another site that the credit reports banks pull are different than the ones provided to consumers. Supposedly all the bad stuff shows, regardless of timing. Anyone have this experience?

Your bankruptcy will no longer be on your credit report, even the version the creditors get. But, if you had a foreclosure, it is a matter of public record and a new lender will find out. If a foreclosure is anywhere near 10 years old, it shouldn't prevent you from getting a mortgage if you have reestablished a good credit history and have sufficient stable income.

$143,000 in debt discharged for $36,500, including attorneys fees. Money well spent!

Interesting. But a bankruptcy is a public record also, so they would be able to find that too right?

Yes, they could search PACER and find your BK. I doubt they do. Many bkforum members have been successful getting mortgages and other loans a lot sooner than 10 years after BK. At last one member refinanced while still in a Chap 13. Your more recent credit history is a better indication of your creditworthiness. Lenders know that.
