    Credit Score rebuild

I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the after stories topics.
I am going to track how long it takes to rebuild my credit scores. Scores come from MyFico - I subscribed for the monthly three bureau scores. I'll add some notes when there are big movements. Probably won't update monthly unless scores really move.

I started looking at my scores right after receiving notice that payments were complete. Discharge date should be tomorrow - 4/22/2026 - haven't received any notice of creditors objection.

    Current Score History:

    date experian-fico 8 equifax-fico 8 transunion-fico 8
    4/10/2026 639 632 597
    5/1/2026 641 637 603
    6/1/2026 647 637 607
    7/1/2026 622 625 598

    Big negatives:

Bankruptcy - filed 5/17/2022 so will be on here until 5/17/2029
Late payments from before the bankruptcy filing, so will start disappearing in late 2021 to early 2022
Remaining balances too high on installment loans - HELOC and parent plus loans are basically at their high point compared to initial balances. Will come down a little over time (final balloon payment on HELOC due in September 2028)

Positives - good credit mix; four years since last late payment. (Actual late payment, not incorrect reporting that I am disputing)

Actions taken so far: Disputed some incorrect reporting, opened two more credit cards

Drop from 6/1 to 7/1 was driven by a few things:
Credit Inquiry for new credit cards plus a parent plus student loan
Average age of account and age of newest account dropped with the new credit cards
Some creditors reporting incorrect information: Capital one reporting auto loan recently closed (they seem to report this every week with a new date of closure) - last payment to them which paid the account in full was late 2023, early 2024 (can't remember which, but could find if needed from the NDC ledger); HELOC and first mortgage reporting late payments from when they were in bankruptcy and the trustee was making payments. I have disputed these and hopefully will be removed.
