Equifax Credit Report Occurrences after Chap. 13 Discharge

We were discharged from our Chapter 13 last August. Since then, we have been working on our credit reports. Also, during that time we have obtained new credit (i.e., home equity line, Orchard Bank M/C and Washington Mutual Visa). While cleaning up our reports, we noticed Equifax for some reason started reporting these new accounts as being under our Chapter 13 even though they were opened after our discharge date. Also, the dates were changed on all the accounts, giving them an opening date of 2002 (the year of our filing). TransUnion and Experian were not reporting these accounts incorrectly. It has taken us months to get that informatoin straightened out and how that occurred, we do not know. We are assuming sloppy input. If you are out of Chapter 13 and open new credit, keep an eye on Equifax as to all your accounts, especially your new ones. Also, in some instances, Equifax reported us as being in Chapter 7 instead of Chapter 13 on several accounts that were either involved in our 13 or open thereafter. We are still trying to clean all this up with them and have even had to copy the creditors and send bankruptcy creditor listings to Equifax to show those accounts were not included in our bankruptcy. Never, ever assume all is OK as to your credit reports; it goes to show you how things can mess up on there and make your good listings appear bad.
