Well I guess we all already knew that. And was why I closed my last account with them many years ago after paying it in full. But now I have one of their cards again because well, after bk beggars can't be choosers....
But heres my latest experience:
I get my chase circuit city visa statement, and sent it back out with payment the same day (luckily). 2 full weeks later, THEY SEND THE PAYMENT BACK TO ME, with a letter saying I didn't write the account # on the check.
I look at the payment slip and at the check. Sure, I didn't put the account # on the check, but its on the payment slip. And nowhere on the payment slip does it say to write your account # on the check. Furthermore, I dug up the statement and it also doesn't say to include account # on check. And why couldn't they just write the account # on the check themselves?
So I call and they tell me to take the payment to a circuit city store. Which the closest store is almost downtown, an hour away from my house. I drive all the way down there, and they won't take the payment either. They called chase from the store and told them they won't take it, and so chase does a flip flop and now says ok yeah they don't take payment in store.
So the associate asked the chase rep to note my account that payment may be late due to no fault of my own. The chase rep says no because you can just go pay online.
I go home and try to pay online. I can't logon to the website all day which was why I didn't pay online to begin with because the website was having problems.
So off I go to the post office to overnite the payment. Hopefully this 5th attempt to pay my bill will work this time. I wrote the account number on the check twice, and circled the first number and put an arrow pointing to the 2nd number. Just in case writing it down once isn't good enough.
Don't think I'll be using this card anymore. Hopefully someday I can get better accounts so I don't have to rebuild credit with these clowns anymore.
