    Closed Accounts

Here is a question I have not heard asked:

What about a closed account, with many years of perfect payments, never ever late, was not included in the BK. Creditor closed it after hearing of the BK.

Does this help the credit score at all? Or any closed account which has been open for awhile, with a decent $5k or higher credit limit and no late payments?
    Filed Business Chapter 7: 7/11/07
    341 Meeting: 8/8/07 Asset Case
    US Trustee reviewed case/resolved 9/14/07
    Discharged: 10/11/07 Closed: 11/2/08

Can anyone answer this with any knowledge? I would think this has come up before......Logically, if you have a few accounts with perfect payment histories and no balances at time of bk filing, then the creditor closes the acct. This should mean something positive, no?

Old active accounts with good credit history help raise FICO scores. A creditor closing an account takes the tradeline off and stops reporting of that good account to the agencies. I'm not an expert in credit rebuilding, but I can't see where losing this account would help your scores.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
