Rebuilding Credit by Disputing, It's Working ...But

I was discharged In AAugust 1st 2008 and I think I credit score in the low 500's. I submitted One or Two round of disputes and now TU and EQ are up near the 600's ( I dont know whats wrong with Experian).

Any ways what are the odds that after I have negative info disputed and removed from my account that it would show up later on again. How do I make sure it never shows up on their again

Whether the entry shows back on your credit report depends on the legitimacy of the entry.

Just because an entry is negative, doesn't mean you have a right to remove it from your credit report (I am sure you know this). You only have the right to remove "inaccurate and misleading" information from your credit report.

Odds are, if the entry was truly inaccurate (i.e. an account that was discharged in BK still showing a balance), a dispute will successfully handle that problem and the odds are pretty good that it will NOT show back up on your CR.

If the entry is otherwise legitimate--albeit negative--and you dispute it, and the entry gets removed for lack of verification, the odds are pretty good that that entry WILL show back up on your credit report. (i.e. pre-BK negative payment history).

        about disputing

Actually, it is legal to dispute information you know is correct. The creditor and credit bureau have to "prove" that the debt is yours. If the debt or collection account is really old, odds are they can't prove it and it will be deleted.

I ordered the "credit secrets bible" and it has some really good information to use.

Ok....let's think about this for a minute....

Raising all our credit card APRs to 30% or more because we're carrying too much debt on one card or were late paying one day on one card is legal, but it sure isn't right.

Encouraging people to sign up for adjustable rate, balloon-payment mortgages with a verbal iron-clad guarantee that they can easily re-finance in a few years and now they can't so they have to lose their home is legal, but again it sure isn't right.

And disputing debts that are legitimately yours hoping the credit bureaus make a mistake and delete the account distracts the credit bureaus from correcting truly wrong information on other accounts. Again just because it's legal doesn't make it right.

My $0.02 - YMMV and that's fine. Everyone is welcome to make the dispute or not dispute choice that is right for them.
