There really is life after bankruptcy!!!! LONG:)

I filed chapter 7 after losing a 60000 a year job in 2006 to a labor dispute. I filed November 9, 2006 and I thought my life was over at this time. I was discharged in February of 2007 and began correcting my credit report. I applied for the Hooters Mastercard and was approved for 1000.00 credit line and also an Orchard Gold for 300.00 with a 0% interest rate for 6 months. I also got the Target red card for 200.00 and stopped with those because I new I could manage that. After about 3 months of limited use but regular payments on all the Target card went up to 500.00. The union went back to work in April of 2007 and I got my job back. In September I found a home that was in foreclosure and on the market for 89900 and had just sold 3 years earlier for 111000 and could bring more if the market ever goes back up. I just new I'd never get a mortgage, but I went to a local bank and applied anyway...to my surprise I was approved on the spot (7.00% fixed interest rate)!!!!! I am now living in my beautiful new house (built in 1995) complete with nice big back yard with privacy fence and above ground pool!! I got this for not much more than apartment rent in this area and it's MINE! I also had an SUV that had major mechnical issues that I traded in on a 2007 Saturn Aura, less money on the month, way less gas and no problems;) Today I finally wanted to take Wamu up on one of their offers, I wanted to put my minimal balances on their card with the 0% until Jan 2009 and to my surprise I was approved for 9000.00!!!! That does scare me ALOT, but I plan on tucking it away and using only for repairs to the house or unexpected expenses. I also went to a new car/house insurance company. Ever since my divorce I had been paying 85.00 month for car insurance and Frankenmuth (in Michigan) was able to lower it to 43.00 a month!! Same policy as the previous company and also insured my home for 315.00 a year! There truly is a light at the end of the tunnel!!!!!!! Best Wishes to everyone!!!

fancy_92, that is great news!! I'm happy to read about your successes. We're actually neighbors, so to speak. I'm in Saginaw. I'm curious, who was your trustee? We are just waiting to go in and sign the papers at the attorney's office, and I'm hoping things go as smoothly as yours seems to have gone. Again, congratulations on getting your life back on track!!
