    Experian disputes...WOW

I haven't been discharged yet, but I decided to start cleaning up/correcting my credit reports now. Earlier today I did an online dispute with Experian on about 8 accounts. They were all still showing open, delinquent with balances, and I disputed that they should be listed as zero balance, IIB. Less than FIVE hours later, I received an email saying that my results are in...and every account is now accurate! I can't believe how easy and quick that was! Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope TU and EQ don't give me any trouble.

Experian is the toughest one....the others should be easier....make sure 100% of the info on each item is accurate, or dispute it with the credit bureau. Some of these items may even get deleted if they are unable to verify the information as accurate!

The only bad thing about telling the CRA the accounts are IIB is that now they will be very difficult to remove. However, if a creditor continues to list you as late, after you filed BK, then you have negotiating power to maybe get the acocunt removed from your reports. The status of accounts prior to the date of filing does affect your credit score.

It is far better to dispute anything with an account, but save IIB as a last report. For example, you may have not been late at all when you filed but the account is listed as 60 days late. So oyu dispute as never 60 days late. Either it will be removed, verified or corrected (least likely). If the creditor verifies then you dispute with them and if they verify again, then you send them a letter reminding them it was IIB and was not late before filing and demand removal. Most companies will remove because it it can be seen as a violation of BK laws to report an account inaccurately after BK filing because it can be argued it is a "collection activity".

Yes, Experian is the WORST! I had an issue with them having a factor of my identity wrong, and the other 2 credit bureaus corrected it over the phone just by asking me questions about my identity. But Experian would not and it took me about 8 weeks and 3 letters to them before they finally did what the others did over the phone in 5 minutes!

Can someone explain to me what you are talking about - What does IIB mean? (I will hopefully soon have to start cleaning up my credit report and applying for new credit.)
