No matter what others promise, the *only* way to get your true credit scores is from myFico - http://www.myfico.com/12/Home.asp

To get all three reports will cost you $47.85.

(And Bandit, I took your original post above from the very old thread and moved it here into your own new thread. -lrprn)

also Google "my fico discount code" because you may be able to save up to 20% if you can find a code. I know creditboards.com has a thread with recent codes

That is just ridiculous they charge people like that, that much & in that fashion. It is no wonder they call the poor & middle class the credit business' bread & butter!...

I suppose you pay their silly price & they give you your score ONE TIME, like WE owe them something.

So now I wonder how the two people I know get their scores for free!?...of course they have tons of money & get around all kinds of stuff, that is probably why.

So we can get a 20% discount for a one time view of the score?

I just don't get the stupid little money scam over all this. Why in the hell they want people to pay for THEIR own score boggles my mind, like some secret competition & you can't know your score until you pay for it...that is @#$%^&*()*&^%$#@#$%^&*!

Before I ordered a report with scores, get a free copy of each report from the three credit reporting agencies. Then clean up the, so only accurate information is show.
Then order one with your score. This way you do not care what your score was but what it should be.

emoney, I disagree. Bandit should also know the score as well to track it.

Bandit, lrprn is correct. Myfico.com is the ONLY place to get your true FICO score. And yes, the $47.85 is for a one time score for that day. You will have 30 days to access that one report. You can save it as a PDF file to your computer. But, you'll get the FICO score AND reports for ALL THREE credit bureaus.

Once you get your credit score & report, work on cleaning up your report, then look at your scores accross all three bureaus again. That's what I plan on doing.

BTW, Fair Isaac Corp. knows that that one little number is the magic number for consumers. The FICO score is derived through a proprietary algorithm. If you apply for credit and you have to pay an application fee, that application fee goes to the company from whom you applied for credit to help pay for your score. So you're already paying for it in the application fee.

It may be "your" score, but it's not your score. It's a score *about* you based on THEIR criteria. It's information that Fair Isaac Corp. has to sell. And so they'll be more than happy to sell it to you. Be glad they'll even do that. I don't recall, but it used to be that consumers didn't even have access to it a long time ago.
            Chapter 13 Filed "Old Law"
            Filed: 6/2003 Confirmed: 3/2004
Early pay off sent: 10/05/2007 - 9 months early
            11/16/2007 - Discharged!

I went to the free place that gives the report & everything is accurate, perfect & I don't have anything to clean up, but they only allowed my free report from one place, equifax, they would not allow the other two for free.

This is the part I feel is a bunch of crap & how the public got sucked into paying for that is beyond me. Someone was sleeping behind the wheel & now they turned it into a business making millions off of the lower & middle class (those who have to borrow money just to buy a home).

It would be different if you got it once a year & lost it, then you would pay for another copy but having the score does nothing for the consumer say like a tax document. It is different from the report. It is a screwed up system that turned this into competition & the public just blindly follows it.

I am going to find out how my two wealthy friends get their scores for free & have never paid a single dime for their score.

It is something am not going to get wrapped up into & has never interested me and still does not but paying for that $47 a month or everytime you want to see it?....they can stick that in their ear.

ROFL! now that is wisdom. I might have to try that plan as well!

Oh please let me join your club for $47 a month with a free 30 trial because I am going pay $564 a year plus inflation just to see my score. I am sure there are millions of people who are paying that but what a rip off scam if I ever heard of one.

& then of course I will need the extra protection plan for just $12.95 a month to make sure that no one else in the whole world can view my score except for me & those who I wish to get a loan through.

also remember if you dispute a item with a report that came with credit score then they must provide you with the updated score once the dispute has been settled

If it is constantly changing from month to month or whatever, then really what good would it be to have a print out? I mean, do some people view this the same way they do a drivers liscense report? Like, you get punished/suspened if you have more than 3 tickets/12 points on your D.L.?

                      just curious is all

I just printed mine out so i could send out my dispute letters. Other then that we have no plans on doing anything credit wise for atleast 2 yrs meaning we will get no credit for two yrs I have found living cash only is great. The stress of having credit was overwhelming. In two years i will readjust. Let me say i will have credit current on my report. But it will be thru my credit union they have a program for people out of BK to rebuild they let you borrow what you have secured in savings and pay back over time so after holidays we will borrow what we have secured and stick it in savings and pay back which will give us current open account

Well, I would not be suprized if they don't charge the people for disputing & each dispute has it's own price.
Thank God I have nothing to dispute that I know of because that would wreck my very last nerve.

disputing is free LOL The whole system gets me they are private company paid good money to report about how we pay by the company we pay our hard earned dollars to. The company I work with pays 1200 a month to report abt our customers payment history then us the consumer doesn't have much recourse when it is reported incorrectly or the company is verifying it the way it is reported yes I know we could file a complaint with FCRA but there needs to be a better way for all this since a private company that outsources to other places then the US is what keeps getting richer and the ones having the issue is having to pay them to make it a little easier for them to keep $$ in their pockets each month

I had to do that one time with AOL & write a letter. They kept charging me for service that I never used & the credit card company removed the charges & AOL stopped with their little scam. I suppose it is kind of like that.

That is probably the best way if you have to rebuild, borrow & then pay it back right away. I don't expect too many problems after my BK because I hope to go in current on the bills which should help make it easier. Not that I am real concerned but more curious than anything.

My mother did a BK & she told me her score was 720 within one year after the BK. I will have to talk to her also & see how she went about seeing this whole score thing. I also think that someone on the phone may have just volunteered the information & maybe she did not have to pay. Not sure.
