Have any of you heard of this???

I received this advertisement from a local law firm stating that i may be entitled up to $1000 or more after i file BK.....because the creditors are supposed to follow certain rules after we file...and how they must correct my reports(my old finance co. for vehicle refuse to state included in bk) Has anyone received anything like this? Is this legit???

Ignore it, shred/burn it. Probably some scam.

Remember, the sharks are always trolling the waters for victims. Many businesses get your name(s) from the BK Court (public information) and sent you all sorts of stuff because you filed. Wait until you get discharged - your mailbox will be full of all sorts of stuff, mostly from every fly by night auto dealership within a 100 mile radius of your house.

They're probably looking to see if any of your creditors had violated the automatic stay of your bankruptcy, and if they did so, the law firm would sue "on your behalf." Of course, taking most of whatever money they could get or if they couldn't get any, you'd owe them.

Like it's been said before, throw it away. It's not that it's not legit (they're looking for technicalities) it's just that you probably don't have any "case" to sue your creditors.

Thanks Chpxii.....i'm just so frustrated at United Auto stating that they will not update the credit report to show included in bk.....i surrendered the vehicle.....and then all of a sudden...a new collection co. i showing up on my credit report...and it looks like one of the items discharged sold the debt to the collection co.....and when i tried to dispute..they denied it

Dispute the item on your credit report as "not mine" and make the CC company or creditor prove that it is. And demand that they report it correctly. Unless they do, you can request that it be removed from your credit report until it is.

Keep copies of everything you send to credit bureau and send all paperwork certified mail.

May take a few weeks to accomplish this, but you can...

              Keep us posted.
