    GEMB screwing my report

I had 2 car care one accounts way back in the day, about 3 to 5 years ago. i paid both accounts off early and they were inactive. in fact, i'm sure one of them was closed due to inactivity. so those cards were not included in my ch7.

now here comes gemb. they are reporting to equifax that those accounts were included in my bankruptcy. the hits caused my credit score to fall 10 points. now i'm trying to dispute it. first it was just one account, after i submitted the dispute, the information changed. not two days later, both accounts were marked this way!

is this a common problem after bk? accounts that have nothing to do with your bk, being incorrectly reported.
    Ch 7. filed: 11/12/08

Yes it is a very common problem after filing. Happened to us also and other folks on here have posted about the same thing. How or why it happens, I don't know but with some of the really stupid stuff I have seen occur with our reports, I truly wonder who these places hire to input information. What you need to do is dispute the information (not online, via certified mail, return receipt requested). Enclose with your dispute a copy of your creditor matrix showing that those accounts were not included in your BK and copy the creditor. That should take care of the problem. Keep an eye on your reports because another common problem after filing is cleaning up an item and then several months later it reverts back to the old information you cleaned up.
