    Incorrect Reporting???

My discharge just completed. Every creditor that I included states "chapter seven" or something similar. Except one. It says "Charged off as bad debt"

Is this ok for them to do?

    Ok, let me clarify....

My discharge has NOT happend yet, just the date of allowed disputes.

The CC I am referring to was current almost to the date of filing.

So it seems they reported "Charged off to bad debt" as soon as they heard I was filing. Before my discharge could even happen. No collection efforts.

    Is THAT allowed?

If it was current to the date of filing, then dispute that puppy.

I believe CC charge off at the 180 day mark ( I could be wrong)

It shouldn't be reporting as a CO, it should read paid as agreed or maybe 30 days late if that was the case right before filing and then IIB (usually once you file but definitely after discharge)

But up to the point of filing, it should report correctly, then IIB.
Dispute it as current up until filing.

If they don't correct, get nasty.

A creditor can report the activity up until filing, once you file, no other late payments can show, just IIB after filing in your history with a 0 balance..

If you find something not reporting that it was cleared in BK with a zero balance, is it usually good enough just to dispute and add your case number to it? Or do you have to provide documentation, I am guessing its up to the reporter to prove you wrong.
