Question about hard pulls on CR

There are some hard pulls on my CR that I didn't authorize. Can someone do that?

Is this a company that you are currently doing business with?

As Frogger points out, any of your current creditors can pull you reports at any time - you authorized them to do that when you signed the original credit application and were granted credit or the loan. If you applied for credit of any sort recently and signed any forms providing your SS# your credit was checked and that results in a hard pull.

No, it appears they are collection agencies. I haven't applied for credit with anyone in over a year.

Not applying for credit would not matter to an existing debtor. When you received credit, there was some fine print in there that gave them the right to pull your credit then and in the future.

As to a CA pulling your credit, I don't know so much about that. I'm sure someone else will come along that does however.

You would have to review the fine print in the brochures and paperwork that you received when you opened the credit cards to see what you agreed to upon signing for the account/credit. When the account was turned over to the collection agency, they assumed whatever terms you agreed to in the contract. So they probably, as the original creditor, can check that account which they assumed at any time.
