I just saw on my credit report that Discover is reporting negative info on my credit after it has been discharged, I had looked a few months ago and Discover showed a zero balance and was IIB so what gives? Can all my old creditors just keep putting negative info on credit? I get email alerts when there has been a change on my credit for the good or bad

Discover reporting negative credit after Discharge

What happened is Discover got notice of your discharge and updated your report. BK IS negative reporting...Your report should indicate eventually that the account was included in BK and may list the date your BK was discharged. Amounts owed and past due payments after the date of your filing should not show; however, if you had chargeoffs or late payments prior to your filing date, they may show and if they do they cannot be removed._________________________________________

I think the issue is that the OP said it was reporting correctly before (0 balance, IIB), but has now reverted to Discover reporting negatives (such as 120 days late, I assume).Originally posted by Flamingo View PostWhat happened is Discover got notice of your discharge and updated your report. Bottom line is that you have to stay on top and dispute these kinds of things until they finally get it reported correctly once and for all.Case Closed > 2/08/2010

Discover made changes when it obtained notice of the filing and again made changes when it received notice of the discharge. Both times it changed the OP's credit report as usually occurs for everyone with any creditor. Any time there are changes some things can get reported incorrectly or old prior information that was removed reappear. It takes months, sometimes years, after a discharge to get reports somewhat on track and even then old disputed information can make a reappearance. It took us over two years of constant monitoring after our Chapter 13 to straighten everything out and then by that time the BK was ready to come off (seven years after filing date - Chapter 13).Originally posted by BobMango View PostI think the issue is that the OP said it was reporting correctly before (0 balance, IIB), but has now reverted to Discover reporting negatives (such as 120 days late, I assume).

Correct, they already had a zero balance and IIB for the last 2 months now it still shows the same exact thing zero balance and IIB but I got the email that said they were reporting negatively on my credit as of yesterday...I figured it was already done who knows// I will just wait it all out, I'm in no rush fro credit anyway

No, I remember you telling me that before
I was on an annual subscription when my credit was 780, I canceled it but they wouldn't pro rate so I still have access for like 5 more months
