Small Loan after BK... any advice/recommendations?

First off, thanks for any replies in advance.

I am looking for a small loan but am not sure where to go due to my chapter 7 bk. I have been discharged since Sept 2010.

Any advice or recommendations? I really don't know where to start.

not to get personal, but what is it that you need a "loan" for???

i know we are in florida as well, and i know even the credit unions are not very bk friendly. if you don't mind me asking for how much and why do you need the loan. the reason i'm asking, if it's for i.e. an auto or something there may be other avenues to examine.

The loan is to buy a used car from a private party. Around $3500.

it's going to be a hard one. i would try with your bank first, but really it's going to difficult unless you buy direct from a dealer and most likely at a higher interest rate. hopefully, someone will have an idea or two and chime in where to obtain a personal loan after bk.

have you saved any money since your bk that you can use as collateral with a bank????

Maybe your local bank would lend if you went in and talked with them, put up the car for collateral??????

Take the bus until you can afford it on your own.

If that is not an option, then you need to pay it off asap.

OverMyHead, are you employed? I'd advise against a loan. If you really really can afford to pay back the loan, then fine. That will help your credit score. I actually got a loan for a car, but I know I can really afford it and my loan is for more than $3,500. $3,500 seems a small enough amount that you could probably save up for. Since you weren't paying the creditors, weren't you saving as you were going through bk?
