6 Years since BK need suggestions

I started the following thread more than a year ago and like to update on it and get further suggestions.
    http://www.bkforum.com/showthread.ph...ed-suggestions.

    Summary
    • No credit accounts or loans since 2005 BK
    • Want credit card to build credit
    • Checked Equifax report only and did not see anything wrong.
    • Applied with Capitol One and was denied. Capital One complained about Auto Lease included in BK.
    • Both Equifax and Transunion had Auto Lease as Negative/Adverse. I was going to dispute Auto Lease because it was paid as agree and not included in BK. Experian had it as Paid as Agree/Never Late.
    • I never got around to dispute until now and both Equifax and Transunion no longer have the Auto Lease on report why? Experian still has it as Paid as Agree/Never Late.

So I would like to try again to get my mom a credit card. But my only concern is on the Experian Report is has 1 negative credit item. A Wells Fargo loan that she was a co-signer. It states “Discharged through bankruptcy Chapter 7/Never Late”. Should that be correct even though she was the Co-signer. The primary lender myself paid that loan in full already.

    Any advice?

Do you know what her FICO or FAKOs scores are? And does she have decent income?
A fresh start is a beautiful thing. And I'm not an attorney, just opinionated!

This is the problem if you don't reestablish credit soon after BK. Down the line you change your mind and you get denied. Go with a friendly BK credit card to start. I'm not up on the latest cards to get but plenty of others are.

I signed her up with CreditKarma and it said 668 Fair.

That's not too low but that long after BK it should be higher. Unless her income is too low, I'd suggest Household Bank or starting with a secured card. Also a retail card will help.

most likey if you must ...you can go with orchard bank...they charge a fee and the interest rate is terrible, but it's a starting point and they wil accept just about anyone.

i think they contacted us a week after our discharge and close. however, we didn't bite, but i still believe they are bk friendly. if my goal was the same as yours i would first try my own personal credit union for a secured card, or use orchard bank, at least for a year to get something on your report.

            best of luck to you!!

Capital One No Hassle Rewards approved her for a $500 limit.
