Thanks, FlyingHigh. You've given us an excellent reminder that the sole goal right out of bankruptcy doesn't have to be to run out and get any kind of credit card we can get as quickly as possible. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of getting credit cards again, even with high interest rates and monthly fees. If we learned what we should have about realistic budgeting to avoid finding ourselves back in bk in a few years, then sitting down to do a little math first to see if it makes sense to get a card immediately or wait awhile is the way to go.
Everyone's recovery journey is their own - I'm glad you chose to share the cautionary side of this tale. The balance is very important. Thanks again.I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Yes, I agree with you entirely. I have an active hatred towards all the ripoff cards out there (aspire, first premier, etc) and I don't recommend anyone allow themselves to get ripped off voluntarily. Life will rip you off bad enough on its own, why let yourself get ripped off even worse? But to some degree, reluctantly accepting lower fee cards is part of the process to rebuild your credit on your way to lower cost cards, fee free cards, and ultimately cards that pay you to use them.... If you use them responsibly. If you can't handle credit cards responsibly, you will end up in the bk hole again... So credit cards are great to rebuild, but only for those who are savvy and can handle them responsibly.
