Credit Report How Long??

I have tried to find an answer to this, but cannot find a solid one.

Regarding Chapter 13, how long does that stay on your credit report? Is it from date filed or date discharged??

I have the exact same question. Do creditors normally look at the date filed or the date discharged to determine the length of time since bankruptcy on a Chapt. 13. If it is date discharged, is it in my interests not to correct my credit report if it is not showing the date of discharge only the date of filing?

FYI Chapter 7 is 10 years from the date of filing and Chapter 13 is 7 years from the date of completion.
After a few years the impact is reduced by credit granters.

A correction to what emoney said - Ch 13 is reported up to 10 years from the date of FILING, not completion. Credit bureaus report Ch 13 bankruptcy for only seven years after filing if the plan is completed successfully.
