Please tell me it was as good as I think

Had my 341 yesterday. I have to file an ammended budget due to my wifes new job, but when we told the trustee that we would have a lot of additional expenses such as child care and transportation he just said, well put it on paper, your buget is real tight right now so I would be OK if you had a little more put toward your other expenses.

He doesn't want any of my tax returns, no reporting of raises or bonuses. All he seemed to care about was that my payments were already coming in ( which they were ).

Can this be true or do I need to wait for the other shoe to drop. At this rate I will be in a lot better shape than before the 13, maybe where I can even take the kids on a couple little trips this summer. I pray all I need to do now is make my payments and fly under the radar...

First make sure your trustee confirms your case, then wait out the 60 days for creditors to file claims to make sure no objections pop up before committing to spending any extra. At this point it looks like you have a realistic trustee who's willing to work with you - that's a godsend! Take any extra money left over at the end of the month and ask your lawyer if it's ok to put it in a savings account for now - you might need it to cover something unexpected. Build up your emergency fund first, then think about extras.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Thanks for the advice. That is what I am hoping to do, My goal is to get some money saved ( in an account or a jar whichever I can ) so that I don't ever have the same problems again. If all goes well I also hope to take the kids on a couple mini vacations ( nothing to extravagent or expensive ) just a long weekend so that they can be little kids and my wife and I can have a little fun with them without worring about how we are going to pay the mortgage this month.

I'm sure I will have some bumps in the road...hopefully they are little and far between.

      Thanks

I think it sounds great. As Lrprn said, you got a good trustee. Good job, and stick to savings. I have finally got some, I think first time really in my life, and I have gotten "Cheap" enough I haven't spent it, though I have a big time urge to.

I have a little advice on savings. Open an online account with emigrant direct, ing.direct, or any of the other onlines ... HSBCdirect.com is another one. Generally, when you make a deposit, it takes 5 days before you can draw it out and then when you want to draw it out, takes a day to get. It has made me not buy something because I didn't have the money and then when I went to withdraw the money, the urge to buy had went away.
