I Am Done (Well Paperwork Only)

Okay so yesterday I went back to the bakruptcy office and turned in the rest of my paperwork....What a time consuming thing that was. I sat at this computer for 12-16 hours a day for over 2 weeks and am mentally exhausted.....

Now I just have to sit and wait for the trustees objections. My meeting of creditors is on the 13th and hoopefully that all goes well.

There did turn out to be a few things I was unsure of but did the best I could and reviewed dozens okay maybe hundreds of chapter 13 cases on pacer. Total bill was still less than 10.00 I don't know how they bill but it appears to be much less than it says on the page. They were charging me .8 but not per page as it stated so I guess thats okay too.......

Anyway thanks for all of the support and I know that I am a long way from done and I still have a long road ahead of me but just to have all of that paperwork filed is a huge relief.......... Although I would not recommend anyone file pro se it was something that I felt I needed to do and if nothing else I know much more now than I did when I started this road and am sure to learn much more in the end.....
When I filed chapter 7 6 years ago it was easy the laws were different I got an attorney and everything went smoothly so this time I am sure I will not get myself into this mess again cause I feel like I had to clean it up myself instead of paying someone else to do it so this may be just what I needed for a reality check!!!!!!!! Only time will tell I guess........

Good luck with your pro se (without a lawyer) Ch 13 filing, Kim - hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Do prepare yourself because you could get a trustee objection or two to your plan if you accidentally didn't complete a section correctly. The revised bk law has made Ch 13 even more complex so without legal training it's easy to misinterpret certain aspects of the forms, especially those that are based on local bankruptcy court or individual trustee customs. Unfortunately what's acceptable to Ch 13 trustees and the courts is not consistent nationwide....not even trustee to trustee in the same bk court district....sigh....

Please keep us posted on how your case goes. If you do get objections, you should immediately set up free consultations with 3-4 bankruptcy lawyers in your area with the goal to find a good match and retain one, because you are likely to need expert legal help from someone familiar with the local court and trustee customs to effectively deal with those objections. Sure hope this proves not to be necessary!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

I am not an attorney. My comments are based on personal experience and research. Always consult an attorney in your area to address concerns related to your particular situation.
