    Darn Junkmail!

    Hi,
I know all my fellow 13er's can relate to my dread the of the mail fearing a letter from trustee --- even though I am doing ok, payments on time, no trouble I am aware of -- for me, there is that small bit of free floating anxiety when I check the mail.

I fetched my mail from the box this morning, and there is an envelope with no return address, but in the window there is my name, all caps, with my case number above it -- even said, CASE # 06XXXXX.

So I had a moment of panic....what's this?? Trustees letters have their official return address, but maybe it's something bad....

Turns out, it was junk mail for refinancing out of my bankruptcy. By borrowing against my home.

Um, didn't exactly this brilliant idea (borrowing against my home to pay off stuff) get me here IN THE FIRST PLACE??!!

But, sheesh. Glad it was not bad news.

Glad it was a false alarm, cso.

It's sad how many vultures ride the currents around our bankruptcies saying that they want to help us recover when in reality they are looking to make a buck for themselves off our misfortunes and couldn't care less if they push us into losing everything we haven't already lost.

Even a year into Ch 13, hubby and I still get 2-3 offers for credit cards every single week (with generous 28% interest rates or high annual fees, of course ) Sheesh!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

    06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
    06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
    07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
    09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
    08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

    10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

JUst wait till the end nears. We are getting probably one a day at our PO Box. And we have street delivery and get them there too. My shredder is really getting a workout. And don't get me started on all the offers my recently graduated HS son is getting

I had a couple of those my first year into paying on my chpt. 13 plan. Yes, I freaked out too until I opened the mail. I hate junkmail. Sometimes I wish I could bill the sender of junkmail my time for me having read their junkmail. Unfortunately, I cannot.
